We at present are refusing work due to the fact we do not have the skilled men. We have expanded our premises, and we can purchase new machines for new clients and contracts but we don’t have anyone to operate them.

This is frustrating as we will be a vital part in the regeneration of North Tyneside but if we had the skills it would be achieved in a quicker time.

We continue to break month on month target figures. We also have major contracts pending when 1 is finalized will require further investment in plant and personnel.
 
We are not only continuing to grow at a pace at which we are dictating, but we are also breaking into new markets which strengthens the foundations of Chirton and that of our 47 staff.
 
This award is a recognition of the hard work being done by the entire team.

On the 9th February 2012 Chirton Engineering were the winner of the North Tyneside Apprentice Employer of the year Award Under 50 Employees.

We were presented with a 3Star trophy made by Apprentices and a £300.00 prize.

The award was well received by everyone at Chirton and we have added to the prize to enable all our apprentices to be able to spend £100.00 each on tools.

Chirton Engineering is working with Joanne Lyons of North Tyneside Council, Education Enterprise and Economy Department

The purpose being to go into schools and Colleges to engage with students and highlight the various aspects of Engineering and how diverse it can be.

Most importantly to point out that it is a career which girls do not consider but could thrive in. We have been involved with Norham College and Whitley Bay High School, and other venues are planned for 2012.

Chirton realizes that the youth of today are the future and we will do our best to be involved and to supply them with further training and education as to channel them in the right direction of Engineering.

Chirton were one of 3 finalists in the Manufacturing Section of the North Tyneside Business of the Year Award and I am pleased to say that Chirton Engineering Ltd were triumphant as being the Manufacturing Award Winner.

We have all worked very hard to improve on being last year’s runners up.

The winner of each category was put forward for the overall Business of The Year Award and we were very surprised but delighted that once again Chirton Engineering Ltd was successful in being named as the overall winner of The Business of The Year Award 2011.

What makes this even more remarkable was the fact that it was achieved in 23 days, if it had been a normal month we would have surpassed £500,000

2012 certainly looks good for the Company.

To meet the client's call off quantities and delivery dates we will have 3 machines running day and night. We were very confident of winning this contract and that was the main reason why we acquired the unit next door to enable us to accommodate the clients requirements.

Mr. Nick Clegg has a vision that the North East with funding from the Government can once again become a Power House for Engineering, and sees Chirton Engineering Ltd as a being a vital cog in that development.

Chirton were successful in being awarded a grant from the Regional Growth Fund Round 1, and Mr. Clegg was interested in seeing the investments that had been made in new machinery.

We have ordered a new XYZ TC 320 LTY CNC Turning Centre to be delivered for Mid November.

This is to enable us to fulfill a recently won contract from one of our most prominent clients.

Our acquisition of the XYZ is for it to work in conjunction with our new Victor to carry out the various operations; this investment will enable us to meet the clients required deadlines with no disruption to our current workload. 

The Lord Mayor Mrs. Linda Arkley visited Chirton Engineering on 29th September along with Mr. James Ramsbotham Chief Executive of the North East Chamber of Commerce, and Mr. Steve Rutland Head of Learning and Skills.

The visit was quite exceptional in that they really appreciated the fact that we have done everything that we had forecasted in such a short period of time, added to the fact that we have gone from 20 employees to 45 in less than a year.

On the 7th October we took delivery of our new Victor 36 Lathe. This is our 4th Victor Lathe.

This purchase has given us the extra capacity to enable us to carry out a new recently won contract, for an existing client.
